Uwe Rosler（乌韦·勒斯勒尔）——1968出生的东德球员，1994-1998年效力于曼城俱乐部。于2003年查出肺癌，球员生涯终结。战胜病魔后在2005年作为教练重返球场。

I can remember all too vividly sitting at home in our Leipzig flat, watching the pictures on TV beamed through from West Germany only a few miles, but a lifetime away.
There was a striking, blond footballer who particularly fired my imagination as I avidly viewed every match I could cast my eyes on. His name was Jürgen Klinsmann, and I had a dream that maybe one day I would get the chance to escape from the oppression in my country to play the game I loved without any shackles, just like him. It was a fantasy really; in my mind I could picture myself playing in Germany--or, even better, in the English game, which fascinated me--alongside players like the dashing Klinsmann. He was a hero, a massive star who strode the world stage, proving a real susccess in every country in which he played. It's hard to imagine now, but before the Berlin Wall came down in 1989 there was absolutely no chance of my dream coming true. And yet, magically, here I am today preparing to line up, fingers crossed, for Manchester City against Klinsmann. It's not just my dream come true--it's a nation's dream come true. All the people are so happy beause they have been given the most important thing of all--freedom.

I came to England with just one bag and my football boots, but it was the best decision of my life. For me, England is the only place to play. It is so attacking and adventurous, it suits my style perfectly. It also suits Klinsmann, and I think it will be very exciting to come across him today.
Jürgen is undoubtedly Germany's best player and I watch him closely because he and I have a similiar style--although, of course, at the moment he is better. But I'm still young, and if I work hard enough, maybe one day I could be like him. I suppose I have a new dream now--to play just one minute for Germany alongside Klinsmann. For the time being, I'll settle for playing a short while today as a substitute because my parents, Horst and Ingrid, have flown over to watch me.
